48% of PDs against government with Fianna Fail

A statistic stemming from the huge non-event that is the PD conference is that 48% of their memebers do not want to go into government with Fianna Fail.

One member was quoted as saying "the PDs are doing well in government, Fianna Fail are not" !!! Talk about none so blind as those that will not see!

i heard that on newstalk this morning, maybe there are no parties that want to go into government with FF, and perhaps there might be a split in the PDs after the election

That'll be interesting, two 1/2 per cent factions!

48% of a small number is a very small number indeed.

I'd say there could be a split ok. I'm thinking of Harney especially.
If the rainbow needed one more vote, who knows they might offer her to keep her job if she could bring a defector or 2.

If it was a non-event, why are you talking about it?

Which she inherited from FF. Since then she has introduced the NTPF, doctor only medical cards, ended the illegal nursing home charges and has reduced A&E waiting times by 40%

Might I ask you where you got this statistic from?

They want to be with Fine Gael, but are throwing a strop because they weren't invited to the party. McD said yesterday he would consider coalition with any ideologically compatible party, including FG. Like FF he knows that the PD/FF coalition is a non-runner and he's looking around for new friends.

    thats hilarious!

so lets assume for a second that very few (or none) of the pd membership actually want to be in opposition - that means that half the party want coalition with fine gael and labour

contrast this with a straw poll of 100 labour members last week by RTE

81 wanted coalition with fine gael
11 wanted coalition with fianna fail

and yet the media are obsessed with rabbitte's leadership and the trouble he might face afterwards

the pds have a lot more to worry about if this is anything to go by

Surely FG/PD and FF/Lab would be much more compatible coalitions?
