Every union boss 'earns' more than €100k.....yet they classify others (in the same pay group) as 'wealthy', 'rich' etc.

I recall a present MEP calling those on 40% PAYE as 'fat cats'....while this MEP was always paying 40% !!!!
Today, the MEP is earning more and paying a lot less tax.

Very easy for the rich to tell the poor how to live !!!

My work is quite mobile and I could probably jump ship. I've even been entertaining a few offers....but I don't think tax will be the thing that would make me leave. I wasn't even all that happy during the boom simply because this is a dreary place with little real opportunity for self-development, career progression or a fun lifestyle. I work in finance and this place is really just a back office- this is not what I trained for and I want better. Also, I like to be surrounded by top class smoke and girls who often get mentioned in similes involving golfballs and a garden hoses- Ireland has the worst weed supply ever and Irish women are not to my taste ( though this is more a reflection on my taste than my female compatriots). As far as Dublin goes, it's more of collection of Arklows than a city, so it doesn't really do it for me. Also, government is too much of a burden here- everything they touch (busses, hospitals, schools) turns to rubbish and costs twice as much as it should. The taxes would be easier to take of I was getting something back. So if I jump ship, it won't be because of taxes.....

Thats not what you said with regards your own postion, you repeatedly said that if they cut your wages, then you work less. And, funnily enough, with regards the private sector, you specifically said:-

If you want to know how the public sector works, go to the gents in Bus Arus or the A&E in Drogheda and see if you can tell the difference.

    They are both somewhat dehumanizing.

Well the wealthy in Ireland have been so giving to the state that most of them dont even pay tax.

I.E U2, bunch of tax dodgers. Tax them or take away their passports.
