That is one way to break service providers. If someone gets denied access like that, it's likely they'd just jack the whole internet thing completely, losing the provider a customer. The more customers denied and gone, the more it will cost those not blocked. Some of those would leave due to excessive cost, increasing the cost to the remainder. And so on.

And given the lousy provision of service in Ireland, there are many who would just pack it in, in that event. There's always letters and phones.

The 'nastier' side of things is that there are a hell of a lot of "nerds" who can play hobs with the internet without getting caught. Push it too far and those would start seriously playing nasty.

Copyright protection is fine, I agree with it. But. penalties can or should only be applied if copyright theft is actually proven and the offender charged and convicted.

Anecdotal. I have noticed quite a few youtube videos have had the entire audio cut "because of copyright infringement" even when the copyright holder has permitted their property use.

Scary? yeah though it doesn't exactly scare me. It bloody annnoys me. For the reason of interfering with information. I class that the same as book burning. Not quite a shooting offence but I'd make the culprit hold the books while they're burning.* (If I was Tyrant.)

T&C apply. This does not apply if the book/s has multiple copies and there is critical need to make fire.

The gov't doesn't really know who is posting on the internet at a certain time, even collecting fingerprints from the keyboard is not good enough,if it has been too long after the post. Since the fingerprints can be wiped, and another user, can post on the keyboard.

Its also impossible to ban someone from the internet.

The ruling class is accustomed to owning the press and to tame national broadcasters. Control of information is an important means of maintaining political power. They will have to wage war against the internet.

Obama brought in Sunstein months ago to draft law to restrict the internet.
