The comparison of Corrib to Dalkey is moot really, because I doubt any processing would be done in Dalkey.
Just because Its called the Dalkey Island prospect is a little misleading, as the drilling could be
done in a number of different locations in the kish basin, some of which would be nearer to Howth head or Bray than Dalkey.
The naming of Oil prospects in general, can be misleading, the Corrib field is very far away from either the river or the lake, and Spanish point is off the coast of Kerry really.
Even so, Oil is easy to transport and if it was to be refined in Ireland, then it would make more sense to locate the refinery in Dublin port, handling and harbouring facilities would be easier to acces or develop.
However, the numbers don't seem to stack for this to warrant building a refinery, as the recoverable would probably only hit 200 mmboe (20%), and as Oil is easy to transport, an FPSO at the well head would make more sense, especially as this is shallow water and not as dangerous as the north Atlantic.
It is more likely this would be tankered to, and refined in Britain, probably in Milford haven or stanlow.
Milford Haven has a capacity of 120,000 boepd, and stanlow 270,000 boepd, the production from Dalkey Island would average 26,000 boepd, so wouldnt warrant its own refinery
.
