The UK's biggest ever investigation of sex trafficking failed to find a single person who had forced anybody into prostitution in spite of hundreds of raids on sex workers in a six-month campaign by government departments, specialist agencies and every police force in the country.

The failure has been disclosed by a Guardian investigation which also suggests that the scale of and nature of sex trafficking into the UK has been exaggerated by politicians and media.

Current and former ministers have claimed that thousands of women have been imported into the UK and forced to work as sex slaves, but most of these statements were either based on distortions of quoted sources or fabrications without any source at all.

"Sex trafficking" is nothing more than feminist propaganda; an attempt by the feminist movement to control how the issue of prostitution is perceived and discussed.

It's a continuation of the time tested "blame men" routine and has no basis in reality, as police reports have shown.

Home Office research found that up to 1,420 women were trafficked into the UK for sexual exploitation in 1998. The figure was based solely on reported cases, and trafficking in people is understood by the police and by organisations that work with victims to be increasing exponentially - because it is extremely profitable, with "high demand" and little capital outlay needed at the start

What the true number is today, and what percentage of prostitutes are enslaved I do not know.

Just looking at the responses here and wondering why the attacks on the OP? The article cited appears to be pointing to a study that has tried to collect evidence.

Obviously anyone is sick to support trafficking but is it not interesting that not ONE case was identified. I realise that a response to this is the duress, stress, etc. these workers could be placed under to not speak up, but not NOT ONE case - seems strange.

Then Katayusha states "there are inumerable cases" with NOT ONE citation and there's +1, +2 support! I know its late on Friday but this thread struck me as one of the more interesting ones started just on the basis of the complete lack of evidence to support something that we all took for granted was happening.
