What do you think Ireland will be like in 2 years?

Say 6 months before the next election. Do you feel the budget will grind the country to a halt? Is there any optimism about the future in regards NAMA etc?

The budget isn't going to grind the country to a halt for two years and I suspect people will have got bored of striking by two years time. That doesn't mean that the country will be any less gloomy though, though I suspect it will not be quite so gloomy economically but will be in terms of paying off huge debt.

2 years time - the country will be fxxked. The only thing to be optimistic about is the 2012 olympics in London. Other than that, the countries going down the tubes - NAMA is going to be a disaster. European interest rates will work against us. Knowledge economy has very little chance - we're currently 39th out of 66 countries in the broadband quality index compiled earlier this month and no real inputs are coming from government.

All in all it's not looking great I'm afraid.

Less populated - huge outflow of people to economies that have recovered as people try to find work and/or flee high tax regime here.

probably will look like Ireland did circa '89, '90 - still about 4/5 years away from a significant recovery

But in '89/'90 we had a young population. Now we have an ageing one, not to mention that emigration will predominantly be a young folks' game.

Well according to the NAMA stats - this country is just going to be exploding with cash in 2013 - nothing doing until then - but after 2012 - Jeez we'll be paying off the NAMA bill at 8 Billion annually, property prices will be going thru the roof and we'll all live happily ever after.

Nothing in the NAMA stats and statements to tell us how we are going to get there - just that we wont be able afford to change our boxers for for the next 3 years. ie no great expectations ............which convenientally is the max lenght that this current gov can serve - before elections are needed..................

Some fairy story eh - wonder how of us will be still here to read it!
