yip i stood to be corrected on that and you corrected me , thanks conor, i meant an outside body should be brought in from say for example france, to act as cab ,but will have no contact with excisting officers, until they interview them, and excisting officers will be fired as theri posts will no longer be tenable, due to this new elite force.

it is wrong public servants investegating public servants, they are in each others pockets as it is.

    The solution is at hand...
    Bring on the IMF.
    What are we afraid of?
    What is there to lose?

Well, I'll probably lose my job as a lowly worker funded by a Govt program, but I'll probably lose it anyway in the Dec budget. Nevertheless, if that's what gives, so be it.

I agree, I would be willing to take a hit cos at the end of the day the IMF will correct some of the imbalances in the country as its just going deeper and deeper into debt as vested interests are pandered to.

Is this the only way to get pushed out of your job for life in the public sector - make the publc aware of an 8.7million fraud.

Differences over the level of fraudulent practices in the company, allegedly costing up to €8.7m, formed the background to the suspension of the company's human resources director John Keenan, the High Court heard yesterday.

Mr Keenan, who has been HR boss at the rail company for 15 years, sought an injunction to lift the suspension imposed on him on December 3.

Mr Keenan said he got an irate phone call from John Lynch, chairman of the CIE group of which Irish Rail is a subsidiary, in which he berated Mr Keenan for reporting the loss at such a high level. Mr Lynch again told him to "button" his lip after accusing him of leaking the information to a newspaper.

CIE will settle out of court, making a generous settlement which they are "compelled" to keep confidential. After painting him as being borderline psychotic in the public mind they will give him a huge amount of money to stay quiet. It worked with Pat Neary (although they didn't go quite so far in tarring him) and it will work again. Either that or CIE hired an ex-KGB man to be their HR Director....

Jeez who'd be a whistleblower these days - having your name dragged through the mud - crony corruption is a road fraught with less difficulties it seems

There was a case in CIE or Dublin Bus a few years ago involving Mary O'Rourke as minister and her pet hacks which had tragic results.
