    Mary McAleese

Is she the only person in public life that we can trust?

Our unelected president? The one who hosts UDA criminals and gets them Irish passports so they can try to circumvent US Homeland Security rules? The one who can't decide is she from Ardoyne or Rostrevor, depending on who she's addressing? The one with those little planning difficulties over trying to build holiday homes where they're not allowed?
We should be trusting her, you say?

I don't trust her because she is overtly religious.

Trust her to do what exactly? Because if you look at her powers... Sorry, power. She basically just signs things put in front of her.
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

And if she needs advice in difficult times, she has these people on hand:

The President's appointed seven (Council of State)
    Harvey Bicker
    Anastasia Crickley
    Mary Davis
    Martin Mansergh
    Enda Marren
    Denis Moloney
    Daráine Mulvihill

Depends. When she speaks she's either sincere and thick or insincere and ...well..... still thick
