Which would say a lot about our values and beliefs, that we would equate corruption with extreme physical violence and murder. Oh we're fumbling in the greasy till alright. We should make theft of sheep a capital offence again and show how far we've come!

Of the current crop of politicans probably too many to mention but: The Bull O'Donoghue, Willy O Dea, Mary Harney, Eoghan Harris (is he a politican?) all deserve a mention. Actually quite a lot of the current FF party would feature prominetly if there was an official top 10 most hated politicans since the beggining of the state.
A truly despicable creature as awful a human being as he is a politician. The silver lining on this particular ignominious cloud is that he serves to portray to future generations the fullness of what went wrong on our little island. A perfect representation of the crooked ideology and skewed morality that has damaged Ireland for generations to come.

The people will forgive what FF have done to this State in an election or two but they should never forget what this thieving crook and his ilk have shamed us with.

Whatever people's opinion on Dev, he can't be described by any length as a gombeen. That's so wide of the mark as to betray a very poor knowledge not just of Dev but of Irish political history in general.

Did you never hear of the swindle of funds for Irish Press. Not only he, but his son Major Vivian De Valera also a TD, and later his grandson who inherited it, ran it into the ground through ignorance, incompetence and mismanagement, throwing hundreds of workers and journalists out of a good career. This was one of his many black spots, but minor in comparison to civil war, economic war and keeping us in doldrums and darkness

You'd think Kenny committed Treason and brought in IMF. Cowen had all in stitches in Galway at 3.30a.m.but he was "not impaired" -DD Power. FF=Publican páirtí an IMF.

As regards the question, I actually don't hate any political personage past or present - hate is far too strong a word - however if I were to name some I dislike....

    1. Ivana Bacik - Wicked Witch of the West
    2. Conor Cruise O'Brien - Arrogant Arse
    3. Michael McDowell - Softened towards him in recent years but still too patrician for my liking
    4. Alan Shatter - Not an arse, but arrogant all the same.
    5. Leo Varadkar - Politics answer to Ross O'Carroll-Kelly.

    Dishonourable mentions to :

Ray Burke - Besides being corrupt, also humiliated a member of our delegation at an ard fheis back in the 90s.
Liam Lawlor - Besides being corrupt, ripped off a cousin of mine as well.
Enda Kenny - I think Enda's a decent, honourable man, but these plans to abolish the seanad and introduce quotas are just plain daft and genuinely annoying the hell out of me. They're a vain attempt to make Enda look politically sexy. Memo to Fine Gael : ENDA DOESN'T DO SEXY. The whole thing makes Enda look like the oaf son in O Where Art Thou Brother who enquires "When are we going to get ourselves some of this reform Daddy?"

Seriously...you put the 2 most infamous crooks in Irish political history in your "dishonourable mention" column? Then you have a columnist and anything-but-FF in your first list.

Err...are you on smack? Oh wait - I just saw your avatar...nuff said...

No I'm not on smack... the five people I listed is because they antagonise me, so therefore it's highly unlikely given that I am a FFer that they would be any FFers in it. In fact the five individuals I covered are taken from three different parties which is a bit more diverse than some of the FF-only lists seen previous.

I don't actively dislike Burke or Lawlor, but I am completely opposed to what they did. Hence the dishonourable mentions.

that, the Press papers went down the toilet in the final years, if there is a list of the ten worst, Éamon de Valera would need more than one place. The economic failures weren't entirely his fault, but most of the responsibility lies with him and his comrades.
