TV License Strike - In protest at RTE

A TV License Strike by all right minded citizens is in order after another pathethic love fest on the National Airwaves

There is no way that the courts could process a mass non payment

The wages being paid in RTE are obscene

They should rename RTE, may I suggest ZANU-TV ?

    revolt caused by revulsion.

    Fair play Jock.
We have had threads before about these shennanigans.

I utterly detest paying a TV licence.

I think you should dig up the statutes on this monkey business.

    Television Licences-Information from CitizensInformation.ie

Public service broadcasting in Ireland means comprehensive radio and television services that are free to transmit programmes that entertain, educate, inform and cater for all members of the community. These services must also provide news and current affairs programmes, including coverage of proceedings in the Houses of the Oireachtas (Irish Parliament) and the European Parliament.

Each year, the government provides a grant to RTE (the national broadcasting organisation), which is funded by your television licence fee. RTE has responsibilities to deliver public service programmes in Ireland. The television licence fee is collected by An Post on behalf of the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, who has responsibility for broadcasting policy in Ireland.

Yes, cut them loose. If enough people stopped paying the RTE tax there wouldn't be much they could do about it.

Tv license man came to my door, I told him I had no TV.

He pointed at my aerial and said, " I'm not stupid, you have an Aerial so you must have a TV!"

I told him I've a pint of milk in the fridge, that doesnt mean I have a cow out the back.

It can be a lot easier to lose the TV altogether, it maybe hard for some to accept but yes there is life after TV, and what a tremendous relief to see no more TV advertisements eh? No more half baked news reports, no more Late Late, no more american cop shows (how many do you need to see in a lifetime), no more disappointment with television. lose it.

You dont need a license for the PC, watch programmes online.

Then again people need tv's, otherwise we'd go back to having families with 10 kids in them - and sit up late playing endless games of scrabble and eye spy.
Life would get crap pretty fast.

Now that I think of it, a TV license is a bargain.

I will consider Ireland to be the most vibrant and englightened nation the day her people take action against such oppression and tyranny such as the imposition of a TV license fee...

Bloody hell I dont want RTE to know where I live either... and I dont watch RTE anyway...
