Eamon O Cuiv reckons there will be few cuts

A stunning performance on Matt Cooper earlier, even by his standards. Towards the end of the interview, he said something along the line of "there are to many big cuts in an bord snip, there would be outrage if we implemented this. There is no way we can implement the big cuts because the opposition would love it. We are not going to give the opposition their day".

So, from this are we to take it the €3.5 billion needed this year will come from tiny cuts?

Also, surely they should be more interested in saving the country than what FG think?

Further proof if ever that FF view popularity as being more important than sorting the country.

The game is finally up, because this time they cant have both.

You would think that FF would push ahead and do what is needed. They are so unpopular they have no chance of getting in at the next election anyway.

FF will always try to hold onto power first, that is their way of saying of putting the country first...

That interview with O'Cuiv just confirms the truism that FF always put the party ahead of the country i.e implementing swingeing cuts would be disastrous for Fianna Fáil electorally even though it would help put the public finances back in order.
This is what happens when a party who only know how to squander public money suddenly have to make a few tough decisions.
