Free iPhone application for bike scheme withdrawn

Interesting one this. I can only presume the application funds itself by displaying advertising? Has anybody used the application?

Not being in Dublin I didn't need it but it sounds like a very handy thing to have. I hope some kind of deal can be done on it.

I've been told that they were using JC Decaux's logo and that was a breach of copyright.... Stands empty on the way in again. Looks like there'll be no option but to extend the scheme in the new year
We need to radically change every system that has enabled the wholesale destruction of the Irish landscape, rural and urban. There is no time for incremental step by step measures. The systems have failed utterly and the only hope for a real recovery requires the rule book to be torn up completely.

surely they could just drop the logo and continue then?

I'd certainly love to see the application, from that article it seem to me they were doing nothing wrong.

Why are innovative companies not supported here? I thought we are supposed to be building an indigenous knowledge based economy?

OOOH! A working example of the 'Knowledge Economy' - sounds like a fab app!

This is another example of something very wrong here. A small company cannot stand on the toes of a large company. If Fusio had continued to sell the software, they would have been it with a High Court injunction. If they were to defend it and loose, they would be liable for the legal bill of the large company. That would be a very large bill.

In the states, small companies are provided full legal backing by the government, so they can go and properly fight cases like this.

shhh, it appears to be still working.
Haven't used it to find a bike yet but got it for the handiness when in the city centre. According it now there are 11 bikes and 9 spaces on Molesworth St. Maybe thats not up-to-date information but the map of the locations is handy in any case.

    Well done Fusio.

Does the application display advertising or use logo's of any 3rd party companies ?
