Seán Haughey appointed Minister of State

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has just announced that Seán Haughey is to be appointed Minister of State for the Department of Education.

    From ireland.com:
    • The Taoiseach has appointed Sean Haughey to the role of Minister for State at the Department of Education and Science following the resignation of Silé de Valera.

Ms de Valera resigned from her post as junior minister last Friday.

Dublin North Central TD Sean Haughey, the son of former taoiseach Charles J Haughey, was first elected to the Dáil in 1992.
Heavy words are so lightly thrown.

the only talent they have are pocketing envelops (lying on CVs and signing blank cheques also count)

So now we have government junior ministers being promoted on the basis of how loud they can whinge and moan

    and

Government state agnecies having appointed members on the basis that they're mates or former partners of an Taoiseach

What a sad state of affairs

I have known Sean for a good few years now. I like him and believe he is as good as many others who are already in possession of a Ministerial role. Good luck to him and the Youth Services during his term as a Minister.
