Idiot 'Irish' Journalist action results in Soldiers death

Stephen Farrell a pompous looking hack who in the modern genre of ego-journos deems himself more important than the story....

Look at me! Lets play soldiers!

no doubt the prick will annoy us with a book tour or some other form of gazing at his navel

*perhaps 50% of the profits can go to the family of the soldier who died saving his dumb ass - thats probably the ploy he has schemed in his ego driven mini brain already

    *his Translator was also killed

Look at me Again! See how I dress! I am down with the Natives! This is my Tommy Tiernan lookalike kit

He uses his Irish passport to go behind the lines...

but look what happens during the rescue!

Mr. Farrell said he reared back from the gunfire and dived into a ditch. He waited a couple of minutes until he was clear which direction the British voices were coming from, then shouted, “British hostage! British hostage!” A few seconds later with hands raised high, he walked to the British troops and safety.

According to the BBC, he is a Briton. So we need neither feel proud of nor embarrassed about him.

And the dead soldier shouldn't have been there in the first place, any more than any of the others who are taking part in that silly war. Unlike the Soviets in Afghanistan, he wasn't a conscript who was forced to go there.

The best thing to do with Afghanistan is let whatever force can do it come to power, even if it is the Taliban, do a deal with them to buy up the entire opium crop, compensate them for some of the damage done to their country by first the Soviets and later the Coalition of the Cowed, trade with them as normally as possible and gently encourage them to liberalise their society, something that they might in time do if they were spared outside interference and intervention in their affairs and some individuals or groups there emerge to work peacefully for greater respect for human rights and democracy.

Afghanistan isn't going to become a second Sweden overnight. Anyone who believes that spending billions on a massive military intervention that is killing thousands of innocent victims will turn it into one is probably on something much more potent than even the opium that is flooding out of the country and enriching the puppet Karzai and his henchmen.

He abuses the Irish passport he holds to gain access to an area that he otherwise would not be accepted in then screams that he is British when in the pooh. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

Whats come over british soldiers and their families. It used to be an honour to get killed or maimed (indeed your duty) for monarch and country.

Now its whinge whinge whinge. Take it like the canon fodder you are and shut the fook up or do not join up.

There is no conscription in Britain as far as I know. These young men are of no importance to british goverments or they would not waste them so easily.

Are the coalition forces not just using Afghanistan to train their troops ?. Once they have done this, they will pull out leaving the place in worse shape, while moving onto Iran maybe ??.

That is a result of today's society, it is the same in Ireland, it is always someone elses fault now. Same reason the government setup quangos, spread the blame.

The ruse of using Irish passports to get Britsh journalists of Irish descent and indeed Irish journalists who have been employed by the likes of the BBC into areas where they would otherwise be unwelcome is fairly common. The Irish passport is a useful flag of convenience in these scenarios.
This particular case, with the yelping of the rescued hack, "British hostage, British hostage", has helped to highlight this process.
It is now certain that this will be taken on board by groups that are hostile to the British and that any holder of an Irish passport will not be afforded the leverage that usually accompanied the document, suspicion will automatically fall on Irish passport holders. The knock on effect will be that genuine Irish journalists will now also be put at risk.
