"Commander in Chief" - on RTE1

They started this on RTE last night, did anyone see it?

Its a bit schmaltzy, but it could provide something to fill the void in our lives now that the West Wing is gone.

Its more believeable than I expected....and its certainly more believeable than the ending of the West Wing (where we are led to believe that the US could actually be ruled by Jimmy Smitts and Al Bundy )

Yet again though - a big US drama which proved to be a massive hit over there is given a graveyard shift on RTE.

    12.10am for frig's sake!

It wasn't a big hit. It was cancelled due to low ratings and 'cause it was awful.

Commander in Chief is an awful show. It's 'Greys anatomy' compared with ER
Actual morality is doing what is right regardless of what you're told. Religious morality is doing what you're told, regardless of if it's right.

An absolute waste of time, ours and theirs. Awful awful awful. It's essentially a show about Gina's lips, and they're nothing to write home about. Tiresome

Pointless TV trash hoping to prey on depressed WW fans. They are sick, sick, sick.

Commander in Chief was a poor person's version of the West Wing. Indeed, it did not even come close to emulating the masterpiece of television that the West Wing and Bartlet Adminstration was (and thanks to DVDs and repeats still is). The story lines at times were too similiar to what the WW had already done. It was and will remain the crown jewel of US political darma.
Funny, its the second attempt a US network had made at making a political drama with a woman as POTUS and it failed just like Hail to the Chief did in the 1980s

On a side note - its a bloody disgrace that Martin Sheen never won an Emmy for Best Actor for his protrayal of Jed Bartlet - so much so that even though he was only the 'Acting' President of the United States people would have rather voted for Bartlet than for Bush.

    Six words my friends:

STUDIO SIXTY ON THE SUNSET STRIP

I've watched the first 6 episodes (watching no. 7 tonight). The premises are different (running a "Saturday night live" type show (only on Friday) as compared to running the country), and the WW is possibly better for it, but the writing is just as sharp as the first four episodes of the WW. I think it's being shown on one of the networks soon, although I'm not sure which one as I don't have a telly.

Aaron Sorkin is a coke-fuelled genius.

According to wikipedia, it's going to be shown by TV3. Broadcast dates not yet confirmed though.
Nothing will motivate the lazy / apathetic / Americanised / west-British types to embrace their culture and the Irish language.
