    Crystal Meth

Just saw some of Louis Theroux's programme on crystal meth in the States.

What is the status of this drug in Ireland? Is it common and has it the potential to do more damage than heroin?

Is it mainly a problem for working class areas?

It seems to pass under the radar with regards media coverage if it is in the country.

it's not very common but it is here. Heroin is still king as far as it goes here.

A gay friend told me that meth use is more widespread in the gay community than in Irish society in general. I don't know if it's in any danger of crossing over - heroin is relatively cheap and easy to get here so it's not clear it it will be displaced.

Meth use seems to be more prevalent among gay men than the community as a whole. I don't think it is popular in Ireland outside those. There is a single supplier in the USA that creates it in bulk, we probably don't have large-scale production.

I don't know why that would be but the unfortunate thing there is that meth has an astounding effect on one's sexy drive. Practicalities such as protection go out the window so STI levels are much much higher.

I am sure there will be a crossover and a more general usage of the filth.

Crystal Meth is more dangerous than Heroin. Maybe Fianna Fail should do the responsible thing and legalize and encourage Crystal Meth at the expense of Heroin.

it relaxes you in certain ways, without being too graphic, that suit gay men, that is why they use it as far as I know.

How is it made or who makes it? Is it synthetic?

Is it like extreme poppers for the gay scene X-Ray?

I read a study a few weeks ago which showed that use of meth was pretty undescriminating when it came to gay/straight divide. I can't be bothered to look it up for you right now though, sorry.
