    Finally saw the wind!

Finally, after waiting for so long I saw the wind that shook the barley last evening.
It is an absolutely fantastic film which tells a very important and heroic story of a part of Irish history which we should all remember with pride.
I could not recommend this film more, it is a simply fantastic story, its well shot with great acting, I can see why it won at Cannes.
Go see it now rather than waisting ur day on the Net!!

Its as much about the Civil War as the Tan War.

Two women got out and left during the scene with the nail pulling off when I saw it yesterday. They came back after the scene but left again before the end of the film and didn't come back. For those of you that haven't seen it, you only see two nails getting pulled off and the scene at the house in the end with the Tans is not that bad, although you fear it will be.

I've been told it isn't in Dungannon or Cookstown cinemas.

Its not, I was just looking last night if it was on in Cookstown, but you could always head to Ballymena to see it! Personally I think I'll wait.

It's ok and good that audiences especially in the UK will now be able to hear about the context e.g. the elections of 1918, in which the war broke out. I liked the ambush. However I am the sort that likes movies to be as all-emcompassing as possible and I would have liked to have seen the Treaty negotiations too and a more national context explained and more battles. I also feel that the film held back a little on portraying the Tans in their full brutality. They are shown pulling out fingernails and that was quite painful to watch, but they and the Auxilaries actually did much worse. I have read a while ago about this WW1 Irish veteran who was crucified by the Auxilaries and then burnt alive. I guess on a low budget they could only do so much, but on balance my opinion is positive. The landlord had only himself to blame btw!
