The repatriation of the dead: Irish rules of return.

I was at my second (in recent times) repatriation service today, thus an interest in the cogs and wheels of repatriation.

I was going to do a Q+A here because the two services I have attended have involved the cremation of the remains and the return.
In the second case, a sudden death of someone quite young occurred and it took nearly two weeks of fraught activity by a quite
elderly couple (and his siblings) to bring home brother and son. The other one was in the US and was death from a prolonged
illness and private family ceremonies occurred involving some considerable length of time before the bodily remains were returned-
    indeed, almost one year.

(Also I had heard something about Aer Lingus no longer bringing coffins in the hold, and wondered if that is the case?)

Adding in this information page for those who may be interested in this area:

The father and mother in this case had to cremate him where he fell; and then begin the sad journey home.

I did not think it the time to approach the issue of preference in the return but I do know that lots of people may not know
the intricacies and regulations here- hence the Citizen's information page above.

Last time the family spoke to my now deceased cousin he reiterated that he would never travel
Ryanair....seems like he didn't in the end.
