Sorry to dredge up this old thread, but I was wondering if there have been any news or hints of proposed changes to the "Citizenship by Descent" rules? In particular, extending to via great-grandparents, rather than just grandparents? Thanks!

If there is any major development on this subject, and it needs to be well planned/foolproof to work how about:

Have strong ancestral ties to the country; Have Predomient Irish Ancestry of (51%+ minimum and nothing lower that counts as only partial descent............... because that will allow the system to be abused. However, if their Irish background comprises the largest of their ancestry say 50% and their other half is split into other partial identities... this would allow them to qualify without problems

Have a clean or very minor criminal record of small misdemenours they have since reformed from committing.

Be fluent in English and show the commitment to learn or already hold fluency in Irish............. we want to protect the Irish Language and ensure its growth

Have a good standard of education or have an impressive skillset.................... these will help develop infrastructure and hard/soft-power

Be knowledgeable of Irish History, culture and customs.................... From personal experience, I have met many (Not all for the sake of courtesy) British-Born People of Irish-Descent who have no concept of irish identity at all............ this is one of the most important criterions to meet

These Country's follow more sensible Jus Sanguin Laws than our own stupid one:

    Italy

    Greece

    Japan

Tear the whole thing up and look at the people here already. There is people more deserving of Irish citizenship here in Ireland than those who went abroad. Sorry but utterly ridicilous post, what next they have to be white to get a passport? Would someone check the melanin levels in their skin? This is real kerdasi amaq territory....

DaBrow was right to leave this site, I'm glad he didnt have to read this moronic reply. God forbid Irish people born abroad would be entitled to citizenship here.

As for that, an Irish American may be in the running for president. If such a person got the job, im sure we would get some traction on this issue. Near 1 out of 2 irish people in the last 150 years have left this country. If this trend continues the IQ will drop further and we no doubt will be subject to much more idiocy on this site as we see in the quote above.

Would that coincide with a rise in xenophobia? I can see if happening already, lack of education breathes ignorance....

The rise in "Xenophobia"(whatever that is), concern about mass immigration you mean?, can be attributed to the change from Ireland being a 99.9% Irish country to an 88% Irish country in 12 years.

Of course the mantra of the moron applies.. "you're ignorant!"

Can I genuinely ask what is wrong with a reduction in Irish people? Do you not think you are living in a globalised world now?Couldnt care less if white people were in the minority tommorrow here as long as I can live as I do now I couldnt give a flying ****

    As Herchel said

Racism is man's gravest threat to man - the maximum of hatred for a minimum of reason.

PS Your logo is the Christian Solidarity Party isnt it? The partys motto if I am right says

The Christian Solidarity Party is dedicated to the causes of Life, the Family and the Community. The CSP promotes policies that safeguard the value of human life from conception to natural death, that support the position of the family as the fundamental unit group of society, and that allow human communities to flourish in a manner consistent with human dignity.
You should really pay attention to the last bit quoted

What ever your twisted interpretation of that is im sure it aint good. Dignity, , from a lads absent in it.

You are the epitomy of the last man, once you live your short hedonistic life the universe wont have any record you ever existed.

Another last man, all he cares about is to keep safe and warm. In short a tragic figure who makes himself extinct.

And you wonder why you experience pangs of depression.

And there is your fault right there mon ami. Why should people remember me? Im here for a good time, not a long time and if I dont leave an impression on other people then that is their issue. Im not here to please anyone why are you? You do seem to please a lot of people, mainly the ones with pillow cases over their heads and eye cuts into them who seem to slobber over your posts. A Christian man with a Christian icon of a Christian party? I may live a short hedonisitic life but know what? It will be a great one, I will die with the biggest smile on my face knowing that I have been mostly good to all whom I encounter, never having displayed any ignorance. What good is a long life of ignorance when a short life of friendliness and openness can make the place a better world. The world may forget me as a person but they will forget your contributions to the world. And in line with the bible, Leviticus 19:34

"The alien who resides among you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God."
Dont spit your coffee over your keyboard in anger...
