Why not simply state that if you want to have an event thats not 'core' GAA, you will need additional insurance. Why ban them outright?

And thats besides how patronising it is to tell people that if they want to do a bunjee jump they will need insurance cover.

The IRFU received more assistance from the taxpayer for the redevelopment of its stadium at Lansdowne Road yet we in the GAA are not interfering in their internal affairs. Why are you Staters so bad at minding your own business? Why do you have this urge to preach in high moral tones at the rest of humanity?

I will alert the relevant parties in Croke Park and request that some notable refernece be made in the annuals of the history of the GAA about the missed opportunity. The GAA's very own Pele lost before he solo'd a ball.
The GAA's loss is the LOI's gain...some day the gaa will recover after the blow, when I just can't say.

1: The IRFU did not recieve more assistance for LR than the GAA did for CP. Thats basic stuff.

2: The GAA lobbyied the government to be included in the LR project (and Tallaght, Abbotstown, Lusk etc). Sounds like the GAA "interfering in the internal affairs" of the IRFU and FAI to me.

I actually don't agree with that. There were no terms and conditions attatched to the funding the GAA get (and are entitled to). All sports avail of capital grants, albeit not to the tune of the €1bn the GAA have gotten.

The follow through of that logic is the GAA in the High Court demanding access to football facilities that get public funding, and that would be ridicilious......

I left preciscely for the reason that there are people in the organisation who ban bouncy castles and no-one ever pulls them up over it.

Not true. The government paid more for the re-development of the Lansdowne Road rugby stadium.

The GAA retaliated for the government putting pressure on it to allow rugby and soccer in Croke Park. And the government indicated that there would be fair exchange - if rugby was allowed in Croke Park, gaelic games would be allowed in Lansdowne road.

As for Tallagh, Abbotstown, Lusk - these facilities are public property and the GAA should have as much access to them as any other organisation. Public authorities have not provided municipal facilities for the exclusive use of the GAA - so why should that privilege be granted to any group. For some reason you seem to be unable to rid yourself of the notion that public property is soccer property.
