Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if god won't have ye, the devil must!

So Lent starts on Wednesday - immediately, for some inexplicable reason, the image of Bert Ahernia came to mind and the dirty great blot on his forehead one Ash Wednesday.... reasonably reproduced by this fine image...

...so was wondering what of Satan's temptations will people be giving up this Lent, apart from spending, 1% of their gross income, pension levy, etc.... I mean the real pain?

I am seriously thinking of giving up reading the news....it will be difficult, but these days, blissful ignorance is probably not a bad strategy.
