violent snowball fight brings campus to standstill

Violent snowball fight brings campus to a standstill - National News, Frontpage - Independent.ie

When it snowed last week almost every suburb in Dublin had young lads blocking up roads with massive snowballs to stop traffic and snowball the cars once they hadstopped. It never made the news, because everyone thought it was hilarious.

In D4 they live in a different reality. Too many people have grown up too quick, too young for their own good, but thankfully a hundred or so have not.

I read the article. If you don't want to be involved in a snowfight and someone insists that you do, that is not fun. If you are hit multiply when you are not involved and do not want to be (as the article seems to suggest was happening) then it is an assault. There are various reasons why someone might not want to be involved in snowfight:

they may have a hidden disability, for example, early osteoporosis,
they may be in a hurry somewhere, (some people have responsibilities to others)
they may have a cold and not want to get wet.
big crazy chaotic situations like this have a tendency to get nasty - some people find this very frightening.

Who cares what the reason is, why does anyone think its ok to fire snowballs at people who are not involved and do not wish to be? Its about respecting other people's wishes, its not about being old before your time.
