    The National Antri... sorry, Anthem.

Somebody said to me that they don't think Amhrán na bhFiann is a very appropriate National Anthem for a neutral country... thoughts?

Can't see whats wrong with Amhran Na bhFiann whatsoever, whether the country is neutral or not. It decribes the struggle by Irish men and women for their own independence rather than any fight they have outside of that.

Would prefer if the words were changed back to their original form however.

Dev really pulled a fast one when he had it changed to begin "Sinne Firnna Fail"

I believe the correct original line was "Sinne Laochra Fail"

Disagree singing. It is a freedom-fighter song, not a song of conquest. Wars of independence don't compromise neutrality.

It's often being commented on by people from outside the Rep. of Ireland allright, as being completely unsuitable in this day and age. Still, it shows the true colours of the powers that be, and their respect for the green white and gold flag when they glorify the green bit in that way.

Do we care what people outside the Republic think?

Ive issue with God save the queen, especially the little known 2nd verse where they kill all the Scots.
La Marseillise (Leaving cert French) is a bit blood and thunder aswell. Got problems with them also have we?
