    Sorry... but it was inevitable.
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

You can only screw your own PC. It is in front of you.

The post below is possibly the greatest ever insight into the mindset of Westbritonsim.

The irony is that the poster actually feels proud of these views. He reminds me of those D4 tossers who embraced Ross O carroll Kelly as an icon (to the disbelief of his creator) Pathetic.

I had not intended to respond, however I think this drivel is worthy of futher analysis

It's amazing how freely dopey pseudo Republicans hurl the term "West-Brit" around.

In its most common use, "West-Brit" is actually a compliment.

    It means someone who:

    1) Doesn't have a chip on their shoulder or an inferiority complex when it comes to our relationship with Britain. Someone who thought Ireland vs England in Croke Park without booing of God Save the Queen was magnificent because it was two sovereign nations meeting as equals in a great stadium built by an Irish amateur organisation.

In other words anyone who disagrees with the poster has a "chip on their shoulder", a swift verbal denunciation which deals with those who verbally defend the state against west britonism.

Accuse them of being the problem thus denying your own national self loathing and post colonial angst....

    2) Reads the only real newspaper in Ireland, AKA The Irish Times

This is so pathetic it beggars belief.

    3) Speaks with a neutral accent

In other words does not speak with an "Irish" accent which is so shameful it must be abandoned for fear of causing offence to our former colonial masters who might regard it as a subject of ridicule. We should aim to speak like them because it makes us a more mature nation etc etc

    4) Thinks not all British people are ogres and admires the British for the determination in the face of the most vile evil during World War II

Implying that non-west brits regard all British people as "ogres". Manipulative crap. Most Irish people having nothing against British people, but they despise Irish "west britons" who accuse all those who do not share their snivelling mindset of being somehow bigoted.

The refernce to WW2 is irrelevant but usually forms part of any west brit thesis.

    5) Likes all sports including cricket and rugby

    Jesus....

    6) Is consistent in either supporting English players for their clubs and for England or not supporting them at either time.

Who cares? Basically this means that the west brit author hopes that England win every football match and tries to justify this by pointing out the number of irish people who support premiership teams.

Newsflash pal - your westbritonism is not justified by other people's hypocrisy...

    7) Thinks the League of Ireland is an inferior product and a joke and that we are in fact stakeholders in English soccer because it is where our youngsters pretty much all ply their trade

Indeed it is an inferior product, mainly because England supporters like you refuse to support it, then turn around and label it "inferior" to retrospectively justify your own inferioirty complex.....

    8) Doesn't support Celtic or Rangers because ridiculous bigotry has no place in sport and their scumbag fans are as bad as each other

    Again who cares...

    9) Despises the IRA because they are a cynical criminal organisation masquerading as patriots.
Really? So anyone who is not an Ireland's Call singing westbrit must be a provo..

Get this clear bateman. I hate the Provos - I was a member of the PDs and an election candidate for that party. However I also regard west brits as utter scum. The scum of the earth. Vermin. End of story.

Men died so this state could exist. Our duty as citizens is to defend it - its anthem, its flag and its territory against all threats, be they subversive (IRA) or more insidious (snivelling west britonism)

If you have a problem with that I suggest you bugger off and join the DUP.

People like you have made patriotism synonymous with terrorism in order to support your intrinsic west britonism.

    Shame on you.

T*ssers like yourself may have notional mass media representation in the form of Eoghan Harris, Bruce Arnold and Kevin Myers but be advised: you are as numerous (and relevant) as Tories were in New York State upon American independence. Your ilk will entirely disappear...or move to New Brunswick!

No doubt this was the sort of mind set that caused the Civil War. Over emotional attachment to symbols that were created by men in the 19th and early 20th Century.

    They were not gods!
