JK Rowling gives £1m to party that cares for poor families.

JK Rowling is giving the British Labour Party £1million.

    Here is why:

“I believe that poor and vulnerable families will fare much better under the Labour Party than they would under a Cameron-led Conservative Party.

“Gordon Brown has consistently prioritised and introduced measures that will save as many children as possible from a life lacking in opportunity or choice.

“The Labour government has reversed the long-term trend in child poverty, and is one of the leading EU countries in combating child poverty.

“David Cameron’s promise of tax perks for the married, on the other hand, is reminiscent of the Conservative government I experienced as a lone parent. It sends the message that the Conservatives still believe a childless, dual-income, but married couple is more deserving of a financial pat on the head than those struggling, as I once was, to keep their families afloat in difficult times.”

Meanwhile our government is working out new ways to stop people spending their own money on political campaigning outside the party system - for fear of undermining the parties who monopolise Irish politics. While they continue to take public money for their own benefit.

Who said Irish politicians were incompetent?
'To attempt to rerun a referendum as a means of reversing the democratic decision taken by the people would be rightly regarded as an affront'. Dick Roche TD 21.12.01

I well I wouldn't be giving them my money but fair play to her all the same for having the courage of her convictions to go and do something.

As for here, it's all well and good to have loose rules when the ones who are subject to them are on your side. It's a different kettle of fish when the ones subject to them are against you, run rings around you and win.

If they really are the party that cares for poor families, why did they scrap the 10% tax rate? Why don't they increase the tax-free allowances? Why don't they scrap the council tax in favour of a local income tax?

This burd is worth about 250m and in today's terms her 1m donation equates to OOC's donation to FF in '94 of 100k, makes one think of his motives ?

Well they part play some of his inteviews until i had and watched the full interview and realize that gordon brown is a man of vision if the labour party could stop all this attacks on him and counter leadership challenges which will not go down well for the british labour party than to create a sort of loophole for the conservative party to win the day if care is not taken by the labour and for them to stop all their leadership ''SHANDS''.

By the time she finishes she could be worth 4 times that but her donation is a philanthropic act whereas OOC gave it because it is traditional to bribe/corrupt politicians to get planning permissions and zoning, with FF at the top of the "handout for bribes league" this will continue for some time, a real example needs to be made and Bertie to the Joy for 5/10 years would serve as a wonderful deterrent.
