You don't qualify for tournaments by giving away goals in injury time. Its a far too frequent occurrence and Trappatoni needs to sort it once and for all.

And had the Georgians not started so poorly, we might well have lost this game.
They didn't, 3 points gained. Dunphy spewing, he's searching for a chance to be negative

Giving away a goal in injury time that is not a winner or an equaliser is definite progress. Bravo Gio.

so in our group, Bulgaria only managed a draw in Montenegro (a warning for us) and Italy stumbled to an injury time victory over Cyprus having escaped some serious scares late on - perhaps justifying Stan's opinion that they could do damage in our previous group - they really will this time especailly considering one of their clubs is in the4 Champions LEague group stages for the first time ever. This is gonna be an extremely tight group and 3 points, no matter where or how, will be the be all and end all of every single match.

We need to radically change every system that has enabled the wholesale destruction of the Irish landscape, rural and urban. There is no time for incremental step by step measures. The systems have failed utterly and the only hope for a real recovery requires the rule book to be torn up completely.

Good analysis.. this group will be very tight by the end of it all.. which is bad for Ireland because it could end up as the one group where even the second place team don't make it into the play offs for a second chance to qualify.

That said, we've got a win away from home.. those are going to be rare in the group. Montenegro are going to be harder to beat than people think, but we have to be positive about the approach. 6 points from the two games would be a massive help as if it is followed by a couple of home wins, huge pressure will be put on the teams behind us.

The difference between that team and what Bobby Staunton sent out was thankfully evident.

    A good, controlled, start.

Yeah, I agree. Team is building confidence now. See Dunphy is targetting Trap over Reid tho!

The tempo was a little too quick for my liking, and they need to be more measured. Butthis is building on previous friendly results and there is cause for increasing confidence. defence is strengthening and team spirit and morale is very evidently restored to a new level. All very positive. Jury is still out, don't you think?

Reid could have travelled to Portugal and chose not to. Trap has lashed him to set down a marker.

That and his weight is a disgrace.
