Popular culture is now largely the response to what is on Tv thus the answer to your question is that it is a vicarious second hand experiencing of what is thought up in tv studios in London, manchester, NYC and LA.

Other cultural expressions. the real ones if you like, are in truth countercultural surviving largely outside pop culture. thus Jazz, non english language film and gaelic games for instance are countercultural awhilst Pop music, Hollywood and Premiership are mainstream pop culture.

And whats a 'G Unit'? Glove Unit? Gas Unit? Gay Unit (as in the military?) Garda Unit (Criminal Assets unit perhaps?)
