    Rule West Britannia

What a time to be a West Brit!

    Leinster rugger champions of Europe

Test cricket being played in Dublin

And to top it all off at the end of the week the marvellous Royal Wedding will not only be televised on the national broadcaster ......but also the regional broadcaster RTE.

And SF are apoplectic with rage about the situation

Former Lord Mayor of Belfast Niall O Donnghaile said the decision to broadcast the wedding was "controversial" and was curious as to why RTÉ weren't more focused on showing events happening in Ireland on that day.
Sinn Fein councillor, Paul Donnelly said it was a "disgraceful" waste of tax payers' money.

So are SF serious about a new "inclusive" Ireland based on respect, equality and integrity or does that just hold if it is not British?

On the other hand there was 7 hours of GAA on RTE today if you count in the Sunday Game.

I don't think that wedding is something that RTÉ should be broadcasting live. A news report after the farming news maybe, but it is of no relevance to the Irish public. Especially at a time when the national broadcaster has lost so much sports coverage.

Your man is only fifth in line for the throne......a bit of a long shot .

He is a ginger though so that might give him some diversity brownie points !

If anything half exciting happens elsewhere the wedding show should be yanked .

Agreed. RTE didn't show the national famine commeration yesterday. They need to decide which country they are the national broadcaster for?

If you could get the weather it would be a perfectly acceptable game in Ireland . 5 days sipping Beer for a test match would surely have some Irish enthusiasts .

It will draw in viewer numbers. Rightly or wrongly.
