There is a very very locally famous and well known Galway Family called 'Dodd' and given he's from Liverpool, did he have Irish Connections?
Well if he had, he kept very quiet about it (as compared to Spike "Puckoon" Milligan for example).

But it needn't stop you from claiming him as "one of our own".
Sure isn't that what the Brits do all the time when a Paddy makes the headlines ...

He was a class act. Sing, tell jokes and more and put on a class live preformance. He could also do serious work.

The man had made a fortune by the 1970's but he just liked what he did and to hold on to the money that he made when doing it.

He was of the same vintage as Hal Roach. The humour worked well in cabaret halls and seaside resort theatres but - as with the comedy of subsequent eras - it was inevitable that it would hit its sell by date sooner or later.

He wasn't my cup of tea as an entertainer but as an expert in a field that has given me much pleasure I thought he was an enormous asset to the field.

Plus he was famous - over many decades and changes in fashion - as a dedicated encourager of the young and upcoming.

Oh so you a self proclaimed expert in your field now? How many fields have you?

He married his missus four days before he died. That was one of his greatest mistakes in life
