Sir Antony Jay , co-writer of Yes , Minister was a conservative thinker. And forgive me for saying so but Yes Minister was a lot funnier and sharper than anything Linehan has done.

Linehan is not too funny overall, or rather he might be funny but his most famous work is not. I think I would give him more credit for his earlier work with Chris Morris (who is actually funny) and Steve Coogan than for things like Father Ted or The IT Crowd.
