My 'Hilda Ogden is dead' thread, was banished to 'chat'. Her loss was surely greater?

Very sad news. Cornell had a great voice.

We must distinguish between cases where there is smoking and music is playing and cases where the is smoking because music is playing.

Sad to hear this. Don't forget that Chris Cornell was also singer in Audioslave, a band formed with members of Rage Against the Machine:

The self-titled debut album, Audioslave, was released on November 19, 2002, and entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 7 after selling 162,000 copies in its first week. It was certified gold by the RIAA within a month of release, and by 2006 achieved triple platinum status. It is the most successful Audioslave album to date, having sold more than three million copies in the United States alone

I was into grunge. A sad loss, Scott Weiland from the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver died a few months back, and Layne Stanley from Alice in Chains, and of course, Kurt Cobain. That only leaves Eddie Vedder and the lads from Pearl Jam.

Ah now, all of Mudhoney are still kicking. Saw them in Derry once upon a time (early 90s...probably), playing with the Petrols, great gig.

Never got to see Chris Cornell live unfortunately, amazing voice

Bit of Chris and Layne (and Jerry Cantrell) all together
