    EXPANDING UNIVERSE

47- With power did We construct heaven. Verily, We are expanding it. 51-The Dispersing, 47

    answer this if you can.
Sorry, the ancient indo-aryan civilisation beat the Islamist camel jockeys to it by about 1500 years.

Hindu cosmology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hindu cosmology and timeline is the closest to modern scientific timelines and even more which might indicate that the Big Bang is not the beginning of everything but just the start of the present cycle preceded by an infinite number of universes and to be followed by another infinite number of universes. It also includes an infinite number of universes at one given time.

    Looking a Little Deeper:

The first important point to consider is the actual statements of the Qur’an, and whether they have been honestly presented. Oktar quotes the Qur’an as saying in 51:47 “It is We Who have built the universe with (Our creative) power, and, verily, it is We Who are steadily expanding it.”

Is that a fair translation of the aya in question?

Well, not according to the three most highly regarded English translations generally available. Their versions are:

In Al-Qur'an 051.047, Muhammad (or somebody) wrote:

YUSUFALI: With power and skill did We construct the Firmament: for it is We Who create the vastness of space.
PICKTHAL: We have built the heaven with might, and We it is Who make the vast extent (thereof).
SHAKIR: And the heaven, We raised it high with power, and most surely We are the makers of things ample.

Not one of them contains the idea of an ongoing expansion of the universe. In fact, none of them refers to the “universe” at all, but to the heavens or firmament, in contrast to the aya immediately following which discusses the earth:

Is that a fair translation of the aya in question?
yes it is, let have look into orginal text and the words used in it

    وَالسَّمَاءَ بَنَيْنَاهَا بِأَيْدٍ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَِ
    Waalssamaa banaynaha biaydin wainna lamoosiAAoona

    وَٱلسَّمَآءَ
    And the Heavenبَنَيۡنَـٰهَا
    We constructed itبِأَيۡيْدٍ۬
    with strength,وَإِنَّا
    and indeed, We
    لَمُوسِعُونَ
    (are) surely (its) Expanders

    copys this word
    موسع
    Musiu

in google translate, and you will get this

    Expanded

Has a single muslim before 1920 translated it as expanding?

    Yes of course ...

the meaning according to some old Quranic tafsir (the following is the arabic quotes are translated into English):

1- Tafsir muqatel ibn solaiman (year AD 767)

means: we are able to expand it as we want.

تفسير مقاتل بن سليمان/ مقاتل بن سليمان (ت 150 هـ
{ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ } [آية: 47] يعني نحن قادرون على أن نوسعها كما نريد

    2- Tafsir Bahr alolum , (year 985)
means: we are able to expand it as we will.

    (فسير بحر العلوم/ السمرقندي

{ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ } يعني نحن قادرون على أن نوسعها كما نريد

3- Tafsir alfayruz abadi (year 1414)

means : we we are expanding it as we will.

    { وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ } لها ما نشاء

    تفسير القرآن/ الفيروز آبادي (ت817

4- Tafsir Alnukat waloyon (year 1058)

means : we are able to make the heaven expanding more that it is already expanded.

    تفسير النكت والعيون/ الماوردي (ت 450 ه)
الثاني: لموسعون السماء، قاله ابن زيد.

الثالث: لقادرون على الاتساع بأكثر من اتساع السماء.

    5 - Tafsir Alqasemy : (year 1913 )

means: we are able to expand it, more than it is already expanded.

تفسير محاسن التأويل / محمد جمال الدين القاسمي (ت 1332هـ
    { وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ } أي: لقادرون على الإيساع، كما أوسعنا بناءها

    6- Tafsir Altabarani (year 970)

means :we expand the heaven in every direction.

    تفسير التفسير الكبير / للإمام الطبراني (ت 360 ـ)

    { وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ }؛ في السَّماء على الأرضِ في كلِّ جهاتٍ

    Etc ,etc,etc .......................

    Their versions are:

In Al-Qur'an 051.047, Muhammad (or somebody) wrote:

YUSUFALI: With power and skill did We construct the Firmament: for it is We Who create the vastness of space.

SHAKIR: And the heaven, We raised it high with power, and most surely We are the makers of things ample.
you cant take wrong translations as evidence for anything, you need to cheack in orginal text and see what it really says, many of those did not translate exactly but they interpretated the verses instead of litterally translate them

Not one of them contains the idea of an ongoing expansion of the universe.
    beacue that is wrong translation

In fact, none of them refers to the “universe” at all, but to the heavens or firmament, in contrast to the aya immediately following which discusses the earth
arabic word Samaa is also used for Universe

in contrast to the aya immediately following which discusses the earth
not true, it says that God created 7 universes and our universe (Samaa) is decorated with stars.

Some many arabic words have many meanings, how can you know what is correct translation or what he meant?

سماء samaa is a noun denoting skies, clouds, or heavens.

you post to me stuff wich you have not studied just to confront my claims

but let face together your Veda super science:

if some stuff from VEDA is scientifically correct it can mean that some stuff were from God , we muslims allready know that God has sent prophets to other nations and sent books to them, so it is possible that some parts of veda contain orginal messages from God, but but but, these scriptures have been corrupted by people that is why we can see errors in them

let have look at this one

Rig Veda: Rig-Veda Book 1: HYMN L. Skrya.

Traversing sky and wide mid-air, you mete with your beams our days,
Sun, seeing all things that have birth. [7]
Seven Bay steeds(horses) harnessed to your car bear you, farseeing One,
God, Surya, with the radiant hair. [8]

[Rig Ved Book 1 Hymn 50 Mantra 7-8]

can you imagine this science, Horses bear the Sun and you say this is scientific

why dont you check the information more before you post something to me and you are not even aware what you are posting.

samma orginally means sky , heaven, but it referes to universe

when you say Samaa you dont think only on our atmophere around the earth and not outside opf it, no, Samma is outer space

what is evidence for that Quran itself

67:3 He(God) who created the seven Samaa(heavens/universes) in layers. You will not find any flaw in the creation of the All-Merciful. Look again – do you see any gaps?
4.Look again! And again! Your sight will turn back to you, weak and defeated.
5.And We have adorned lowest Samaa(heaven/universe) with lamps(Stars), and We made them projectiles against the devils...

so if you have 7 parallell universe

    7
    6
    5
    4
    3
    2
    1 (Our Samaa(universe), decorated with lamps(stars))

what does scinetist say about Parallel universes

    so suma summarum:

if there is 7 layers of Samaa and in lowest Samma there are stars, then it means that Samma is universe, and not only our sky beacuse we dont have stars in our atmosphere sky.

do you understand know why Samaa is universe.
