Come up with a link. I think you're talking absolute rubbish. The checks for citizenship are extensive and it is not possible to refuse a citizen a passport.

To be honest with you Non-Nationals from overseas can buy property here without getting citizenship. Maybe the Chinese and the Indians would like some.

You're right. I was thinking of visas.

Justice gives out citizenship. Foreign affairs runs the embassies, and collects visa applications, but Justice issues the visas. And Foreign Affairs makes the passports.

Always found that arrangement slightly mad.

The most useful part of Irish citizenship is the ability to live in other EU states freely. Ironically, a lot of people leave shortly after they get their Irish passport.

The middleclasses are losing all faith in the banks and the political system, they see bogus asylum seekers
driving Mercs and BMWs and living it up on social welfare while they find themselves struggling to get by week by week.

Why is it so difficult to introduce biometric ID cards? just in the last few days we had a Romanian getting stabbed, Chinese gangs growing fields of cannabis and a Hungarian woman in Galway orgainising a prostitution ring. Ireland is open for business, come on in and if the crime isn't paying the social welfare is just magic.

Politicians are just a byword for pension grabbing incompetents, an entry visa is such a simple thing to enforce and with ID cards we can quickly measure who the hell is here and what are they doing here.

Somebody from Pakistan/India/Nigeria can easily apply for a bogus English speaking course in Ireland or a legitimate one and not attend. The follow weekend get themselves a taxi and hey presto. It's happening every week across the water, no reason to believe it ain't happening here.
