New York prostitute....check
Irish radical, Berrigan-like Catholic street priest...check
New York.... Hommage to New York... Fairytale of New York.... .....check.
Perhaps it's okay to write this kind of novel now, because nobody nowadays of any importance was an adult in the Seventies, so you can borrow and raid that era's tropes, cliches, notions, and re-work them for a whole new unsuspecting readership....and make them seem profound.....
But it don't mean a thing if you ain't got that swing...
