As a society and a race are we ever going to mature ? Here we are, an athlete in Olympic final and all people are interested in is the Pub. The pub, the Pub, the pub, the pub...I read an article in the Washington post during the week about Katie Taylor. Some knucklehead, 'Proud2bIrish', left a comment that the only two good things in Bray were Katie and some Bar. Some other idiot then responded and in an article read by 10's of thousands the only thing these proud paddies had to tlak or be proud of was Ireland's Bars and drinking culture.

FFS people get a grip and show a bit of maturity. It drives me nuts and just reinforces negative stereotypes of the Irish that large section of our popluation seem only too happy to embrace. What a bunch of idiots !

JJ is a class boxer, clearly one of the best in the world, but why the hell is he and his family involved in rows of pubs on the eve of a very special day ?

Every conversation our people seem to have refers back to the Pub..so sad that we really don't seem anything else to be proud of but our ability to drink and get drunk..

To be clear: We don't know what the boxer says, we've only got quotes from his mother, not him. Hope the member of the bar staff who was assaulted wasn't badly injured and that the perpetrator is dealt with by the Gardai and courts.
