Every November there is usually a debate on P.ie about wearing a poppy. Personally I have no issue with it. However, since SF has emerged as a political force in the South, the Easter Lilly has again become more visible. I guess to wear it twenty years ago was to allow an individual to be labeled a Provo. I think it's now high time we dispensed with the notion of the Lilly as a symbol of violence and accept it as a reminder of those who gave their lives for the freedom of this nation. Certainly all funds raised would go along way to pay for the upkeep of many of those volunteers graves, which are in a dreadful state.
