It is precisely because Whitney came from a privileged background, with every opportunity handed to her that we feel disappointment that she STILL CHOSE to take drugs in the first place. Not only that but she was a mature adult by the time she started down that path - most inner city junkies are introduced to drugs before they are old enough to know what they are doing. She never got her life together, despite support and help from family and friends, not even for the sake of he daughter who by all accounts is now as bad.
If there is one preventable death that I am devoid of sympathy for, it's this one.
