Could Ireland see another civil war?

The short history of our country has always been determined by a handful of people. Civil wars/revolutions only need a few armed people to change the course of a nation’s future.

In recent years Ireland has had pro European governments who have happily handed more and more power to the people in Brussels, meanwhile back in Ireland we still today have a few people who fight for a united Ireland and ignore or are oblivious to the fact that the Ireland they want United is fast becoming a state of Europe.

The new FU treaty will see the end of our independence over our budgetary measures bringing us one step closer to European control.

Have Irish people accepted their fate or can we say they have indeed grown up and agree with a United Europe. Or will we see a modern day version of the IRA fighting yet again for the Independence of Ireland?

Are Civil wars/revolutions a thing of the past for western nations or could they easily happen here again?

Civil wars mostly occur in a time of transition or post transition.
So, Ireland as it currently stands would have to transition before it could occur.

    So how could Ireland transition?

    a) United Ireland
    b) Revolution by force as a result of Government policy
    c) Become a European Statelet
    d) Rejoin the UK.

    From above
    a) Likely to happen eventually. When it will, there may well be small scale disturbances but not enough to delve to civil war.
    b) No. The Irish are a placcid people. We lost all ''that carry on'' back in the 20's.
    c) Possible in the next 100 years we will become a statelet. Will it cause civil war? No. We will moan and DC's future child will be hoasting a site where posters will long to be back in the Cowen paradise.
    d) Won't happen unless our country breaks down from the seem. You are not likely to see a civil war there, but anarchy. See Somalia.

So to conclude, No, a civil war is quite unlikely to happen on these shores again.

I'd say it's an inevitability and something that will bring orange and green uniting the island.
The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.

_ It's very difficult to predict the political future longterm but I'm looking forward to seeing some of the banksters & their (Fine Gael-Labor, and past FF-Green's) puppets heads in baskets.

Could Ireland see another Civil War? Would the situation you seem to be implying might come about in the future not rather be a War of Independence?
