    2,200 receive citizenship - Are We Finally A Modern Multicultural Nation?

    The government, and particulary Minister for Justice Alan Shatter, deserve our gratititude for taking on board the backlog of cases for the granting of citizenship and tapping into the huge potential of the new Irish. And the citizenship ceremonies - almost 30 of them held so far - are stirring stuff with nothing spared on pomp and ceremony and rightly so. Well done to one and all and a chead mile failte to our new compatriots.

    If only we could swap some of the troubled minds in here for the new citizens?

    Just saw this on the news. The pride in their eyes was heart warming. They will make better citizens than many native born Irish who will never comprehend the meaning of citizenship.

    Shatter and kenny had to come and ruin the day. Blueshirts are just so full of themselves.
