    Can God be categorised ?

Just recently my grandson (aged 12) asked me which religion God belonged to and if he belonged to just one did that mean that all the others were 'wrong' ? My attempt at explanation brought forth a further comment : "Why are there so many different groups with different beliefs if there is only one God ?"
What wisdom should I have given him that would help him to make sense of all that that ?

_ Who was the guy who said that if god did exist he probably didn't have a religion.
Where there is brass there is poverty near by. We are getting nearer to a dictatorship where your purpose is to slave, live in debt, ratify agreements and consume rubbish.

Well there is only one God, there is also only one true religion the rest are fabrications of man's mind or null and void.
Your lack of being able to answer comes from your apparent lack of faith in your religion.
Because of this you are unable to affirm one way or the other, I suggest you read the bible slowly and look into Christian history, not particularly Catholic history.

Tell him God is not part of any organized religion and he hates how humans behave in his name using religion as their justification.

Only one God but many messengers.

It's like asking directions in Dublin.
You may be told 10 different routes but the destination is the same. You might come across the odd fella that'll send you wrong too.

Notice that a far more logical explanation is possible if you change a few words here and there i.e
