Just recently my grandson (aged 12) asked me which religion God belonged to and if he belonged to just one did that mean that all the others were 'wrong' ? My attempt at explanation brought forth a further comment : "Why are there so many different groups with different beliefs if there is only one God ?"
What wisdom should I have given him that would help him to make sense of all that that ?

I would tread carefully lest I upset either of the child's parents. That way you can explain the differences between religion as differences in interpretation between differing cultures and groups.
