    The Voice of Ireland

The format of this competition is fine as it stands. Four experienced artists choose the voices that appeal to them.
Later, however, the format changes and the choices will be made by the public phoning in theirs. Where competitions are run to decide talent, I think phone-ins are an absolute fraud.
This system is really a money spinner for the T.V. Station organising it, but deprives the really talented who have no organisation supporting him/her. It's a fraud the way voting is organised- through schools, national organisations and straight fund-raising to cover cost of phone calls. Is it time to call these competitions a fraud?

Honestly not a fan of these shows, (My taste, nothing against them) but i do think it is fairly stupid when you see posters all over tralee asking for you to vote (Spend money) On some individuel or group just because they are from kerry.
Surely if they want a fair inteligent competition this sort of thing should be banned. though of course if they just want money then its all good.

RTE bought the franchise for 'The voice of Holland' as did several other nation's broadcasters....like countless other shows are bought and sold internationally.. (Big brother, come dine with me, take me out...etc etc etc).

They're all, to quote the OP , "money spinner(s) for the TV station". It's the way of things in TV these days I'm afraid.

The unique thing about this show is apparently the fact that the contestant is judged purely onn their voice. In reality, after the first round it becomes exactly the same as the X Factor/You're a Star.
I think it's about time we voted for senators with breasts. After all, we've been voting for boobs long enough. ~Clarie Sargent, Arizona senatorial candidate

It's reality tv. It's tripe. Just turn it off and go read a book. If we all stop watching and stop phoning in, then these shows will disappear.
