Is child-rearing in a gender neutral way the future?

Interesting article in today's Daily Telegraph about a couple who have raised their child
in a "gender neutral" way. Is this how children will be raised in the future?

Couple raise child as 'gender neutral' to avoid stereotyping - Telegraph

    Except

"Sasha wears a "ruched-sleeved" girl's shirt as part of his school uniform, and has been banned from sporting combat trousers.

The youngster is also encouraged to wear flowery tops at weekends."

He also apparently likes to play with Lego and dolls.

Hope he has a happy childhood and grows up to be a confident well-socialised adult.

No. It's woolly-brained, new-age bollox of the highest order. End of.

They referred to their child as "The Infant" and only allowed him to play with "gender-neutral toys"
    .
    .
For the first five years of his life Sasha alternated between girls' and boys' outfits, leaving friends, playmates and relatives guessing.

I think they took it a bit too far like. It's alright to not want your kids to comform to the stereotype or feel pressured into only doing girls or boys things but what did they call the child ''it''? Get it food. Buy it clothes.

    errr...ok.

Well the way I see it is children should not be forced into gender roles e.g. playing with dolls or action men etc. However equally children should not be forced away from those aspects of gender, e.g. "banned from sporting combat trousers"

I think the parents are over reacting to what they perceive as an overly gender-centric society. While it is true that our society is too focused on gender, the solution to that is certainly not to stick potato sacks on the kids

it seems to me that they are not trying to raise him gender neutral at all, they are merely enforcing stereotypes of the opposite gender on him, e.g. "is also encouraged to wear flowery tops at weekends"

I would say this is an attention seeking ploy on behalf of the parents. It must be very confusing for the wee lad, perhaps give social services a ring.

I don't think that it is "liberal" or "PC" to dress your little boy up as a girl and call "it" "gender neutral" when it is plainly just forcing gender roles of a non conventional type upon him.

Is it really neccessary to drag up every future guest of The Springer Show to try and pretend that you are demonstrating some Daily Mail nation of the future nightmare?
