There's some equivocation going on here...
Not in my case, though. I think it is wrong in all cases to print correspondence in its entirety without prior permission and posting names and phone numbers should be a no-no.
Are priests not able to stand over issues of church proceedings? The man concerned has a public role as a representative of the organisation concerned and should not assume that any official response he give to such an enquiry comes under canonical secrecy.
Maybe he should have sent a Bishop around with a couple of canon lawyers with a 'let this be our little secret' meeting on their minds?
Besides elements of that letter look remarkably like a template and if it is a template letter then I don't see why it should be regarded as a private correspondence between two individuals.
