YOUR favourite music with a political-motivated 'twist' to it!???

Okay I've not found a thread like this before so I thought I'd give it a go...

Politics in general has been getting me down over the last while so I decided to cheer myself up by spending a while 'youtubing'... This one really cheered me up -

Today FM - Gift Grub - De De Top Of The Pops - YouTube

-and got me thinking ... I enjoyed THE THE meself since I was an 80s angst-ridden teenager, particularly 'Heartland'... it 'spoke' to the angry side of me. I find I'm listening to it frequently over the last few months...

    Stunningly prophetic lyrics too...

Beneath the old iron bridges, across the Victorian parks and all the frightened people running home before dark
Past the saturday morning cinema that lies crumbling to the ground
And the piss stinking shopping centre in the new side of town
I've come to smell the seasons change and watch the city as the sun goes down again
Here comes another winter of long shadows and high hopes
Here comes another winter, waitin' for utopia, waitin' for hell to freeze over

This is the land, where nothing changes
The land of red buses and blue blooded babies
This is the place, where pensioners are raped and the hearts are being cut from the welfare state
Let the poor drink the milk, while the rich eat the honey
Let the bums count their blessings, while they count the money
So many people, can't express what's on their minds, nobody knows them and nobody ever will
Until their backs are broken and their dreams are stolen
And when they can't get what they want, then they're gonna get angry
Well it ain't written in the papers but it's written on the walls, he way this country is divided to fall

So the cranes are moving on the skyline, tryin' to knock down this town
But the stains on the heartland can never be removed from this country that's sick, sad, and confused

Here comes another winter, of long shadows and high hopes
Here comes another winter, waitin' for utopia, waitin' for hell to freeze over

The ammunition's being passed (This is the 51st state), and the lord's been praised
But the wars on the televisions will never be explained
All the bankers getting' sweaty (This is the 51st state) beneath their white collars
As the pound in our pocket turns into a dollar
This is the 51st state of the U.S.A. ...

Little did Matt Johnson know back then that it was the Euro AND the Dollar that'd do it!

So what music are you listening to with that kind of twist to it?

When I was in China it was "Number 15 Cotton Mill of Zhou Cun District Led By the Party Builds the Motherland and Destroys the Bourgeois Rightist By Making Superior Cotton", but that was more for the chorus. In terms of entire songs, I like Bob Dylan's "Political World", Leonard Cohen's "Democracy", NWA's "Fk Da Police", and Muddy Waters' "Champagne and Reefer".

That's a good version of that song. At first the audience laugh when she says the title before realising what the song is about. You can sense her anger rising as she sings. Powerful stuff.
