My favourite is the story of a British trade delegation in Japan around Xmas time some time in the early 90's. Their hosts, in an effort to bridge the cultural divide , decided to decorate the lobby of the conference centre in a suitably festive fashion. Unfortunately, when the Brits arrived they were surprised to see, amongst the tinsel and twinkling lights, a giant, red-uniformed Santa Clause nailed to a cross. Ah!

Ah indeed, a friend of the brothers' did a stint in Japan years ago. Just before Christmas went into one of the shopping centres and there he was in all his glory - Santa Claus nailed to a cross. This friend went back the next day to take a photo but Santa and the cross were gone. That was over 10 yrs ago!
