Ó Donnchadha: The Gnostic Gospels are not accepted by the Church, therefore they are not considered Catholic.

The Catholic Church might not wish to accept it -- then or now -- nonetheless, there does appear to be evidence that Christ had male and female apostles.

Kindness is cheap; it's unkindness that always demands the highest price.

    Hearsay I say. Christ knows.

How many more of these bigoted rants against the Catholic Church are going to be posted.

The only ones equating the ordination of female priests with child abuse are biased liberal journalists.

The Catholic Church is merely trying to avoid the in-fighting and schisms that is tearing the Anglican communion apart.

Can you say 'storm in a teacup'!?. There is an attack on Christianity. The prostitutes of and for the brave new world don't want it. It is an incumbrance.

Is ordaining a woman worse than child sex abuse? | Atheist Ireland

In fact, the penalties in the document suggest that the Vatican actually considers attempting to ordain a woman to be a more grave offence than sexually abusing a child.

A cleric who attempts either offence may be punished by dismissal or deposition, but a person who attempts to ordain a woman is also automatically excommunicated, as is the woman who attempts to be ordained.

These are the moral priorities that one might expect from a church that last year excommunicated a Brazilian mother for helping her raped nine-year-old daughter to have an abortion, without seeking to impose any penalties on the man who raped the child.

Ethical issues should be evaluated on the basis of human rights, compassion, well-being and suffering, not on the basis of theological dictates from people who believe they are getting messages from the creator of the universe.

I just heard some stuff on Newstalk the day before yesterday saying that this headline "Vatican equates Women Priests to Child Abuse" was total bull. Apparently the Vatican never said any such thing. Though not in agreement with their stance on women priests, it would be a lie to say that they portrayed it as anything similar to child abuse.
The document mentioned both women priests and child abuse but in no way connected or compared them to each other.

Much as it pains me to say so, you're entirely right.

It was just a PR-illiterate juxtaposition and the use of extraordinarily insensitive language that caused this particular impression.
