So the government bears the final responsibility for defending the rights of women that wish to work as priests. I say the State should tell the RCC that it will fully comply with the same equality legislation as everyone else.

If not: massive fines, confiscation of property, exclusion from civic life, and eventually proscription.

    I'll keep dreaming.
The Vatican is also a sovereign entity, with whom the Irish Government has diplomatic relations with.

But the RCC is not. The priests and Bishops are Irish Citizens living and working in this country. They are fully answerable to the law here.

Also, Foreign Embassies on Irish soil are required to operate within Irish law - e.g. employment law.

They want their cake and eat it - a Sovereign entity when it suits, yet they don't want to take responsibility when things go wrong. Hopefully this will be clarified by the US Supreme Court.

Makes you wonder about the government of the ROI - how many governments would tolerate control of education at any level by agents of a different Sovereign State ?

Since Cornerman got so many seconders for his dreams of religious persecution, here is what it might actually entail.

I personally find the fever pitch of anti-Catholic hysteria on this site and in this country to be really disturbing. You know it's not going to end well.
