Of course I do. To generalise about the Church is completely pointless.

To any objective observer, said verbiage is just makeyuppy nonsense.

    Your "of course" is misplaced.

Dunno that much about the others (though I do have a go on occasions at all the listed targets), call me a specialist.

Anyway, Bertie (my moniker's inspiration) never mentioned "Aggressive Anti-Catholics" in his public pronouncements as far as I know.

    But markeys agrees.

And yet so many people have sympathy and interest in his OP (we're now on post 80) and the thread is one hour old.

    Thanks.
Ceremonies mark events. That is a human thing. And they provide an occasion to celebrate (in this case the arrival of a new human being onto this magnificent earth).
Events mark events. That is a thing thing. What does performing an empty ritual which is designed to ape the ritual it was conceived to avoid have to do with celebrating anything? I mark the arrival of a new human being onto this magnificent earth by doing my utmost to be civil and kind to it. Everything else is a game of "dress up" to me and is disposable/frequently hilarious.

If your measure of the worth of an act stands in relation to its "human thing"[ness]. You should be quite fond of religion. It's very "human" indeed.

You need to work on your imaginative capacities.
I can assure you, this is one thing I most certainly do not need to work on.

How did your "humanist" ceremony go, by the way?

Indeed, but i find it's best no to get so irked by TBF, he's a single thirty something accountant from limerick with little if any experience of the world and to be honest in most of his posts i find he is just trying to be outrageous as possible, if thats not the case then he is one of the vilest members of this good forum. Besides you could be describing most Irish people (present company excluded ofcourse ) in the first paragraph.

After all is that not a FF avatar your sporting?
