    I have checked the ordination service order and there is no such reference there. I have some lines of inquiry - will check.

    The question of the nature of Communion is a complicated one because their seem to have been differing beliefs about it in the early Church (of course the idea that It is only symbolic didnt exist back than).
    That may indeed be part of the reason why there is no confession about the issue "set in stone" in Anglicanism.

    I know there is a canon in the C of I against the use of incense. Outside of St Barts in Dublin and St George's (?) in Belfast it is pretty much obeyed. We dont really have a tradition at all of "Anglo-Catholicism" here.

    The Church of Ireland traditionally at least was much more "protestant" than either the Epispocal Church in the USA or the Church of England.
